Lexar has officially launched a new range of microSD cards aimed for drone, action camera and smartphone users. The new Lexar Professional 1066x microSDHC microSDXC Cards SILVER Series claims to have the fastest UHS-I speed ratings, as well as being U3, V30 and A2 certified – making them the perfect choice for anyone wanting to record 4k footage.
If you’re confused by all these abbreviations, check out our SD Card Buyers guide where we give a comprehensive run down of what all those numbers and symbols mean.
Essentialy, Lexars SILVER series microSD cards can get 160MBs read and 120MBs write speeds. But a word to the wise – while the new Lexar SILVER Series is getting lots of attention for its claimed ultra fast speeds – its actually only rated as V30.
The Video Speed Class indicates the continuous Video writing speed that the card can reach, and it goes up to V90. So the card can actually only maintain a write speed of 30MBs – which is good enough for 4k, but its not the 120MBs that Lexar wants to sell you. The reality is that the card wont hit those speeds consistently, but considering that a 64GB card starts at $19.99 – they are quite the deal.
Lexars new Lexar® Professional 1066x microSDHC™/microSDXC™ UHS-I Cards SILVER Series are now available at the usual online retailers.
