If you’re in the market for new Speedlight, this is news for you. Profoto have just released the Profoto A10 – the newest addition to the A1 series of round-head speedlights.
If you’re already seen the Profoto A1X, then the A10 will be a familiar sight as its essentially an A1X with built in Bluetooth and “AirX” technology.
The Profoto A10 shares virtually exactly the same features as the A1X: it has the same round head design as well as the large display, they both have 76Ws of maximum power with 9 stops, HSS Support, TTL Support, a rechargable battery that gives you 450 full power flashes and a recycle time between 0.005s and 1 second.
Now with all those similarities, why bother with the A10? Well, the Profoto A10 has AirX Bluetooth sync technology, which allows you to use the Profoto A10 to its fullest potential, even when you’re shooting on a smartphone. We’ve seen this feature before namely on the Profoto B10 and B10 Plus Monolights, and it seems like Profoto is widening the range of devices that have access to this feature.
The Profoto A10 will be a prices piece of equipment, with a starting price of $1,100 with Nikon, Canon, Fujifilm hotshoe variants. If you want to splurge for the Off Camera variant with an included trigger, this will set you back $1,200.
